St. Patrickโ€™s Day in Washington: More Than Just a Green Celebration

The last time Donald Trump hosted the St Patrick's Day celebrations at the White House, there was a notable focus on Northern Ireland. President Trump, in what was a significant moment, drew a clear distinction between Ireland's north and south:

The Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) celebrated this distinction at the time. It was certainly more than just a "green jamboree."

This time round the absence of First Minister Michelle O'Neill might even go unnoticed by the President, as it is tied to her decision to boycott over Trump's stance on Gaza.

Meanwhile, Emma Little-Pengelly plans to head to Washington DC:

  • She'll attend the White House reception on Wednesday.
  • A potential meeting with President Trump could offer a chance to discuss Northern Ireland's investment ties with the US.
  • There might even be a nod to next year's 250th anniversary of American independence.

Stay tuned for more updates as these diplomatic events continue to unfold! ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿค
