Urgent Recall Issued for Tower Air Fryers Due to Fire Risk |
Consumers in Northern Ireland Advised to Cease Use of Specific Models Immediately |
Consumers across Northern Ireland are being urged to stop using certain models of Tower air fryers immediately due to a significant fire risk.
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has identified a serious manufacturing defect in four Tower air fryer models, which can lead to overheating and potential ignition during use.
The affected models include:
T17023 Tower 2.2L Manual Air Fryer
T17061BLK Tower 4L Manual Air Fryer
T17067 Tower 4L Digital Air Fryer
T17087 Tower 2L Compact Manual Air Fryer
These models were manufactured between January 2022 and April 2023 and sold through major retailers, including Argos, Tesco, B&M Bargains, Poundland, Robert Dyas, and the Tower Housewares website.
While no incidents have been reported in Northern Ireland to date, there have been reports of fires linked to these faulty appliances in other regions.
Grainne Griffin, Director of Communications at the CCPC, emphasized the urgency of the situation: "It's vital that consumers who have a Tower air fryer check their model. If it's affected, stop using it immediately."
Consumers can identify the model number on the appliance rating label located at the bottom of the air fryer.
If you own one of the affected models, cease use immediately and unplug the device.
For further information, including registering your product for a refund or replacement, please visit the Tower Housewares webpage.
For additional assistance, contact the CCPC’s national consumer helpline at 01 402 5555 from 9 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday, or email ask@ccpc.ie.
Ensuring consumer safety is paramount, and prompt action is essential to prevent potential hazards.
Stay informed and prioritize safety by checking your appliances regularly for any recall notices.
For more updates on product recalls and consumer safety, keep an eye on official communications from the CCPC and other relevant authorities.
