Explore the expanded offerings at Foyleside Shopping Centre and the wider appeal of Dunnes Stores Northern Ireland |
Dunnes Stores has been a cornerstone of Foyleside Shopping Centre since its inception in 1995.
Over the years, it has evolved into one of the retailer's top-performing locations in Northern Ireland, consistently ranking among the company's regional leaders.
To meet growing customer demand and enhance the shopping experience, Dunnes is undertaking a significant expansion and modernization of its Foyleside store.
This ambitious redevelopment involves absorbing the former food court space, allowing for a more cohesive and spacious retail environment focused on fashion, lifestyle, and homewares.
Upon completion, the store will boast a retail floor area of 43,591 square feet, making it the largest Dunnes Stores location in Northern Ireland.
This substantial investment underscores the retailer's confidence in the Derry market and its commitment to providing a premium shopping experience.
Leading European designers have been commissioned to create a contemporary, design-led interior that sets a new benchmark for retail environments in the region.
A highlight of the redevelopment is the introduction of an in-store café offering full breakfasts, traditional carvery options, fish and chips, sandwiches, soups, and wraps, alongside quality coffee and fine desserts.
With panoramic views of the River Foyle, the café is poised to become a distinctive dining destination within the city.
The revitalized store will feature an extensive range of Dunnes' fashion and lifestyle brands, including Savida, Leigh Tucker, Gallery, Paul Gavin, Paul Costelloe, Carolyn Donnelly, Helen Steele, and Power Cut.
Specialist ranges from COOK and Considered will also be available, reinforcing Dunnes' commitment to offering flexibility and choice to its customers.
Paul Doherty, Centre Manager at Foyleside Shopping Centre, remarked, "Dunnes Stores has been part of the story of Foyleside from the very beginning, so this redevelopment feels like a real milestone moment for the centre."
He added, "The scale of the investment and the quality of the design show a long-term confidence in Derry and in the strength of the city as a retail destination."
As one of Ireland's largest indigenous retailers, Dunnes Stores maintains a strong national presence across fashion, homewares, and food, tailoring individual locations to local demand.
The scale of the redeveloped Foyleside store reflects its importance within the wider Dunnes estate and its position as a flagship location in Northern Ireland.
Retail observers have drawn comparisons with Dunnes' landmark Patrick Street store in Cork, where a high-profile redevelopment successfully blended contemporary design with a strong sense of place.
Similar expectations now surround the transformation at Foyleside.
Gareth McCready, Store Manager at Dunnes Stores Foyleside, commented, "This is the most exciting chapter in the history of Dunnes Stores at Foyleside."
He continued, "We're creating a completely reimagined space that focuses on fashion, lifestyle, and homewares, with a level of finish that customers might not expect to see outside flagship city locations."
McCready also expressed gratitude to customers for their patience during the redevelopment works and apologized for any inconvenience caused.
As work progresses, anticipation is building among shoppers eager to see the finished result.
Thirty years on from its original opening, Dunnes Stores at Foyleside is preparing to enter a new era, one that reflects the evolution of the brand, the growth of the store, and continued confidence in Derry as a thriving retail city. |
